2007 MARY POTTER AWARD FOR STAFF EXCELLENCE

The Mary Potter Award for Staff Excellence is bestowed upon a staff member who is nominated by colleagues for fulfilling criteria including leadership, teamwork, innovation, quality service, patient commitment all of which are carried out with a focus of Calvary and the Little Company of Mary Health Care’s Mission and Values.

Zandra McKenzie commenced her employment at Calvary in February 2002 as an experienced nurse of many years including thirteen years experience in emergency nursing.

Zandra has worked extensively in the High Dependency Unit and Critical / Coronary Care Unit and was appointed to the position of Clinical Nurse Specialist General Intensive Care in May 2006. Zandra is a born educator, able to identify the need in her unit and the hospital and develop a program to suit. Accordingly she was appointed to the position of Clinical Nurse Educator Critical Care Unit in July 2006.

Zandra has exceptional communication skills which have benefited Calvary in general and her colleagues in particular, in all her positions here. More recently, Zandra was asked to take on the position of Acting Deputy Director of Nursing, a role she has performed with enthusiasm and sensitivity to the advantage of the Calvary workplace. Zandra has now been appointed permanently as the Deputy Director of Nursing of Calvary.

Zandra is a very worthy recipient of the award named after the foundress of the Little Company of Mary.
